New Leadership Delivering More Results for Our Community
As an Ordained Elder and Community Activist, I've had the opportunity to engage with numerous people from many different backgrounds. I am honored to be a member of The Potters House of Dallas Church.
Throughout my life, my internal compass has consistently gravitated toward the strong desire to help people, to right wrongs, and stay engaged in current policies that may affect my Community.
This is not my first appearance in the political rodeo, nor will it be my last. From 1995 to 2008, I was appointed to numerous political positions including, President and 2nd Vice-President of Mesquite NAACP, 3rd Vice President of Texas State Conference of NAACP and NAACP National Education Scholarship Chairperson.
I have been a board member for several organizations: Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, Advisory Board Member with Mon-The Gazette Newspaper, Mesquite Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Board Member to Historical Mesquite and Advisory Board Member to West Dallas Youth Center. I have also had the privilege of running as a Candidate for Mesquite ISD School Board.
I was nominated for the Mesquite Women in Service and Enterprise Award (W.I.S.E). I participated in Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison National Leadership Summit. I was appointed by Senator David Cain and Texas State NAACP President Gary Bledsoe to serve on TAKS committee in Austin.
I am a Certified Conflict Management Specialist and I also volunteer for Dallas County as an Observer.
As a woman of faith, I continue to make my mark in the Community. I have been blessed to be able to create several Ministries. The Tranquility of a Woman and Trinity Prayer Warriors Ministries are two of which I currently serve as founder. I believe that faith should bring a community together, not divide it. I am passionate about my belief which allows me to be understanding of others who may believe differently.
Family may be listed as last, but it is truly first for me. I am excited to be able to say, I am enjoying 32 years of marriage with my husband Charles Upchurch. We have raised 6 amazing children! Adding the extra title of “Grandparent", pictures of our Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren can be seen in my office at all times.
I believe that nourishing our Community is my mission through the office of Justice of the Peace 2-2.
I intend to "Stay Focused On The Mission And Not Just The Position."
Thank you in advance for your Voice, your Vote, your Support and your Prayers.
